Queens Award for Enterprise Presented by Her Majesty the Queen’s Lord Lieutenant

The Greenbank Group UK Ltd was honoured to greet Her Majesty the Queen’s Lord Lieutenant for Derbyshire at their head office in Woodville. The Lord Lieutenant officially presented the company with the Queens Award for Enterprise which recognises Greenbank's pioneering work on boiler optimisation technology.

Other dignitaries who attended the event were; Lord Ralph Kerr the High Sheriff of Derbyshire, Joyce Sanders, the Chairman of Derbyshire County Council, Mrs Ann Hood the Chairman of South Derbyshire Council and their consorts.

The commemorative plaque was presented to production manager David Firth who is the longest continuous serving employee having been with the company over 34 years. The Queen’s Vase was presented to linings foreman Steve Fletcher who is the second longest serving employee having over 25 years continuous service with Greenbank. Both of these dedicated men travel in excess of 85 miles to and from work each day from their homes in Yorkshire.

Greenbank scooped the Queens Innovation category award by combining an ecologically sound strategic approach with cutting edge technology that allows coal fired power stations to generate electricity using less coal, which assists with both lower emissions and reduce potential landfill from the residual ash.

The award acknowledges the Greenbank Group’s significant contribution in helping coal fired power generating plants, both in the UK and overseas, become more efficient and environmentally cleaner.

Since founding its Systems division in 2000, Greenbank has gone from strength to strength, developing solutions for the increasing demands of the power industry. The group, having successfully developed its own product range and formed partnerships with major international suppliers and now offer a range of world class boiler optimisation technologies.

The Group Managing Director, Charles Conroy, commented,

“The Queens Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious award for business performance. Our company is greatly honoured to receive this accolade which recognises our consistent drive for improvement and innovation, whereby, we can strive to help the environment. It is also a tremendous tribute to the hard work of the staff at Greenbank of whom I am immensely proud”.

We believe the recognition and visibility that this award brings will help us make further in-roads into addressing climate change issues within the power generation industry across the globe.” he added,

“The award is the jewel in the crown which coincides with Greenbank’s 10th anniversary celebrations since the successful management buyout by the current management team."
